"Africa" by David Diop (Senegal)

The literature says about the region that they're proud fighters of the Savannah. Also that because of the so much hard work, its back is bent but they don't care because they know is for something good and hard work. Then it says that even though they got whipped and worn off by working in the  midday sun, they're proud of their effort and strength. Something else that it says is that after all the trouble and harm they went through, they're healing again by the loveliness amidst white and faded flowers. Finally it says that once again their tasting the bitterness of liberty and growing everything the way it used to be.

"First Confession" by Frank O`Connor (Ireland)

What this story says about the literature is that for them doing their first confession is something really big for them. That's because is showing them that their being faithful to their church but mostly to their religion. Something else is that since kids are little they have to do their first communion and afterwards right away confess for the first time. Basically the Irish culture seems to be really faithful to their religion and follow every step there is to be a good person. Finally Ireland is also somewhat strict on what they spect of their kids to do as their growing up and start going to church.

The church I go to is catholic. It's really nice and has saints around it. It's interesting how things are drawn in the ceiling and on the windows there's images of the saint doing some good things. The church also has only one priest even though they switch between two of them once in a while. The activities and traditions my church have are Miercoles de Cenisa, Domingo De Ramos, Virgin of Guadalupe birthday, Easter, the day Jesus was born and also 3 Kings Day. The things my church do during its services are that while in church they pass a basket around and people give money no matter how much, even coins. My churche's beliefs are that Jesus sacrifice himself for our sins, that Jesus is somewhere up there next to his dad God (Christ), and also that someday God will  come to the world and awake those who were good but are dead now and will name someone else king or queen of all his power.

Night By Elie Weisel (Germany)

Germany was the worst living place for the Jews. In Germany was where the concentration camps for the Jews were located, where they got torchered and where they would get throwned in the crematorium if they weren't no more good workers. Also Germany was where they only got fed with a piece of bread, black coffee, and thick soup. Germans had a process called the selection process, that was when they had all the Jew workers walk or run around the German doctor's to see who was good and who was bad and from there they decided who was going to die and thrown in the furnance. For those who were at the concentration camps in Germany, they had to be over the age of 18 and less the the age of 40 I believe, or else they'll get killed. The best thing at the end was that the Jews got saved by the United States.

What I'll remember longest about this book is that Elie was a very strong man who went through a lot and still survived which to me is unbelievable. The images that'll stick with me is the images of the kids an others getting thrown in the furnance and also the way the Jews look after so much work and so little food. It really didn't change my thinking in any way. The saddest part for me was when Elie's dad couldn't keep up no more and he finally gave up and later that night they had to take him away and throw him in the furnance and the last thing Elie heard from his dad was his name. The most horrifying part to me was when the son kill his father for the piece of bread but at the end the kid got killed for the piece of  bread also. the part that made me more angry was the way the Germans try to take the Jews away from the camps and moved them somewhere else so the other people who were going to save the Jews wouldn't save them. The most confusing part was that, how did Moshe the Beattle knew that the Germans were coming for the Jews and taking them away. Finally, the most touching part was when Elie at the end got saved and also that he never again found out what happened to his mother or sister.

"The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World" by Gabriel Garcia (Columbia)

What this says of the literature region of Columbia is that their very creative. They honored the dead people with detail and kindness. Also that their really religious. Something else is that they are caring and kind when someone of theirs dies. Finally, that instead of being sad, they do a nice memorable celebration.
The kind of funeral I'll like for myself is a funeral with red, pink, and yellow roses and its petals all over the coffin and the place I'm going to be in. Also i want like a little "ofrenda" meaning an altar like things they do for "Day Of  the Dead". Something else i'll like in my funeral is for people to burry me away from all the other dead people like I want to have my own peaceful own place. The reason I want for all this to be like this is because I believe is something I'll like and may be unike from all the others. This is so not similar to the other funerals I've been to because their all only with like the same type of flowers and the dead person is just there. What these reveals about Latin America's attitudes toward death is that they are very celebrarive, honored their family's or people's death very nice, and they are really traditional which for me that's important. +

The type of roses I'll like for my funeral.

These are the type of flowers that get used in most funerals.

"No Dogs Bark" by Juan Rulfo (Mexico)

What this literarture says about the region it's from is that is somehow rigid. That is also at times quiet and at times noisy. Also that the nights are very dark and fresh. Something else is that the parents, especially dad's care about their children but not as much. Finally this region has a lot of dogs barking around and mostly everywhere.
I'll be the best parent. I'll love my children so much and always take good care of them. I'll help them on what they need no matter what it is and also be there for them not just as a parent but as a best friend. The way I'll deal with my teenage son or daughter well I'll try to talk to them about any problems they have and get them or buy them what they'll be needing throught school or their teenage years. If my kids misbehave as a parent I'll tell them to stop or try to say what's going on? or why are they acting that way? but I'll never try to hurt them meaning hit them because that's not going to solve the problem but it will make it worse. I would never be similar to Ignacio's dad because he was really mean and ofended Igancio bad so I believe the son felt bad but at the same time mad. Instead of being like that I'll always be positive with my children, be happy and always smile, and never make them feel bad or turned down. =)

This is part of Mexico's culture.

"Borders" by Thomas King (Canada)

What this literature says about the region is that there's a border between Canada and U.S. Also that you get stop by the police and they ask you what nationality or ethnicity you are when coming from Canada to the U.S. somehting else it says is that indian Canadians have a strong attachment to their tribe, like the one from the story which was "Blackfoot". Another thing that it might say is that kids see things from a different point of view than adults. Finally that the Canadian region is very language variety and have kind of a lot of Native American people living there.

For me I believe my nationality is more important than my ethncity. That's because I'm proud of where I come from, which is Mexico. It ain't my citizenship but mostly all of my family was born there and lives there right now. Nationality is not only citizenship but is where you get your roots and traditions from.
